Blythewood High School seniors Andrew Hochhalter, left, Hannah Gable and Boone Benson were each awarded $1,000 scholarships by the Blythewood Rotary Club at its May 24 meeting.

Hochhalter, the son of Bryan and Karen Hochhalter, will attend Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C. He is an Eagle Scout, played soccer, was active in his church youth group and was a mentor at Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School during his high school career.

Gable, the daughter of Greg and Becky Gable, will attend Charleston Southern in the fall. During her time at BHS, she was secretary of the Health & Occupational Science Association and was named member of the year. She has also held part-time jobs at Blythewood Pharmacy and as a Junior Richland County Sheriff’s Department volunteer.

Benson, the son of the Rev. Jeffrey and Debbie Benson, will attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He was captain of the BHS soccer and ultimate Frisbee teams and served as his church’s youth pastor for the last six months. He is the last of five children in his family to attend Liberty.
