4-H Comeback –

Rotarian Nancy Coleman (right) invited Allison Coleman (center, with Rotary President Arthur Lathan) from the Fairfield County Clemson Extension Office to be her program for the Winnsboro Rotary Club recently. Allison is the 4-H Volunteer Coordinator for the county.

Allison gave a very good overview of the 4-H program here in the county and stressed there was a strong need for the services the program offers. It has been a long time since the 4-H program has been this active.  4-H provides a wide variety of enrichment activities with the ultimate goal of giving youth the skills they need to thrive and succeed throughout their lives. The focus of 4-H is positive youth development through activities in science literacy, healthy living and citizenship. All 4-H programs are accessible and open to all youth.

Some projects Allison has worked on include Down on the Farm, Healthy Lifestyles, 4-H Manners and Embryology in the classroom. There are many activities ongoing with the 4-H group; if parents are interested in having their children/teens get involved, please call Allison at 635-4722 (ext. 112) or email her at [email protected].
