Community honors Rhett Davis’ memory with Memorial Tournament

There were more than 230 entrants in the second annual Rhett Davis Memorial Tennis Tournament held at Cobblestone Park during the week of June 20-24.

The benefit tournament was initiated last year in memory of firefighter Rhett Davis who was active in the community and was a devoted tennis player. Davis was 37 when he died suddenly last year.

Tennis divisions included men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. Match play was held Wednesday, June 20-Friday, June 22.

The tournament included a silent auction and cookout on Friday, June 23 and a ‘Super Kids Challenge’ on Saturday, June 23.

The Friday night dinner was sponsored by Carolina Wings, lunch on Saturday by Zaxby’s and Groucho’s and an awards banquet on Sunday was sponsored by Beef O’Brady’s. For information, go to Cobblestonetennis.com.
