Ronald McDonald House Visits Rotary –

Rotarian Marilyn Butler (left) had Elizabeth B. Atkinson (center, with Rotary President Arthur Lathan), House Operations Director of the Ronald McDonald House, for her speaker at Rotary recently. The House is located in Columbia and serves as “home away from home” for many families of critically ill or injured children who are being treated at any medical facility in the area.

Ms. Atkinson shared how she got involved with the House, how people get to stay at the House and what it takes to operate with only one paid person on staff. She shared a power point presentation of some of the children of the families that utilize the house service when needed. She said that there are always needs for volunteers and food. Ms. Butler had volunteered with a group at the House and was quite inspired with the experience Ms. Atkinson brought to her job; the Rotarians were also impressed with this program.
