The third Annual Blythewood Labor Day Run 10K, 5K, and 1-mile Kids’ Fun Run hosted by Blythewood Middle School PTO will be held Sept. 3.
Proceeds from the event will go for: 1) the purchase of an information sign to be placed next to the building for the parents picking up and dropping off students at Blythewood Middle School and 2) a donation to a Fallen Heroes landmark for the Blythewood Community Park saluting the contributions and ultimate sacrifices of civilian and military heroes in our community.
The 10K will start at 7:30 a.m., the 5K at 7:40 a.m. and Kids’ Fun Run at 8:40 a.m. All three races start and finish at Blythewood Middle School. The 10K and 5K routes are USATF certified courses. The routes will take runners through Longcreek Plantation and the surrounding areas of Blythewood Middle School.
10K runners will enjoy a mixture of flat areas and hills with views of Lake Columbia and the Longcreek Plantation Equestrian Center. 5K runners will take the flat, scenic course in the historic Round Top area of Blythewood. The One-Mile Kids’ Fun Run will take place around the gated perimeter of the school campus.
Early race registration is $30 for the 10K and $25 for the 5K through Aug. 22. Registration for the 10K race will increase to $35 on Aug. 23 and $40 on race day. Registration for the 5K race will increase to $30 on Aug. 23 and $35 the day of the race. Registration for the 1-mile Kids’ Fun Run costs $5 from now until race day. 5K and Kids’ Fun Run registration includes an official race T-shirt. 10K registration includes an official race Technical T-shirt. Shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after Aug. 22, so register early!
Packet pick-up will be Sept. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on race day beginning at 6:30 a.m. in the Blythewood Middle School Gym.
Cash prizes of $50 will be awarded for male and female Overall and Master winners. First-, second- and third-place women and men in the following age groups will also receive awards: 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+.
