WINNSBORO: Funeral services for Martha Sellers Blackwelder, age 86, will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Stephen Greene Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Cockrell. Burial will follow in Stephen Greene Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6-8 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blackwelder died at Agape assisted Living on July 8, 2012. She was the wife of the Rev. James Blackwelder and the daughter of the late Benjamin W. and Cynthia Maryann Thompson. She was born in Hazlehurst, Ga. on Aug. 2, 1925. Mrs. Blackwelder was a member of Stephen Greene Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, the Rev. James Blackwelder, Mrs. Blackwelder is survived by two daughters, Fay Walker and her husband Donald, and Linda Sellers, both of Winnsboro; one sister, Trudy Evans and her husband Frank; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, E. L. Buddie Sellers, Mrs. Blackwelder was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to Stephen Greene Baptist Church.
