Louisa Lyles Searson

WINNSBORO: Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Lyles Ravenel Searson will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at St. Johns Episcopal Church conducted by the Rev. Jim Newburger and the Rev. Preston Huntley.  The family will receive friends in the home at 213 W. High Street, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Searson died on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2012.  She was first married to the late Daniel Ravenel.  After his death, she was married to the late Louis Arthur Searson.  She was born on April 26, 1917, the daughter of the late James Morris and Louise Gantt Lyles.  She attended Converse College and graduated from the University of South Carolina.  She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church all her life.

She had an open and inquisitive mind.  She loved music, reading, art, people and dogs.  She was very grateful for her life and loved her family and friends.

Surviving Mrs. Searson are four children, Dr. Daniel Ravenel and Kathy, Dr. James M. Ravenel and Elizabeth, Mary R. Black and Bob, all of Charleston, and Lavinia R. French of Saluda, N.C.; a brother, James Morris Lyles Jr. of Winnsboro; two sisters, Lavinia Lyles Peltosalo of Columbia and Susanne L. Reaves of Summit, N.J.; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 301 W. Liberty Street, Winnsboro, S.C. 29180 or to the charity of one’s choice.
