Lida Boney Corley

BLYTHEWOOD: Lida Boney Corley, 84, of Blythewood, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. Born Nov. 30, 1927 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest L. and Beulah Wooten Boney. Lida loved life and she took great enjoyment from helping and serving others. Because of her care and compassion, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and spent her working years caring for the needs of others as a nurse. Lida was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, and before the passing of her beloved husband, Don, they spent many hours together serving at the church, or volunteering with the State Museum.

Lida is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lida was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Corley, and by four brothers and one sister.

A graveside service to celebrate Lida’s life will be held at 2 o’clock, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 408 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, with the Rev. Dr. Cathy Jamieson-Ogg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste. 100, West Columbia, S.C. 29169 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 864, Blythewood, S.C. 29016. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
