Jacob Curtis Crout

BLYTHEWOOD – Jacob Curtis Crout, 87, of Blythewood, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. Born Oct. 12, 1925 in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Jacob Samuel Crout and Christine Goins Crout. In 1963 Mr. Crout founded Crout’s Cooling and Heating and operated the business until his retirement in 1999. A member of Bible Deliverance Church in Marietta, S.C., he was also a founding member of the Blythewood Volunteer Fire Department and was active with them for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his son, Tony (Chris) Crout of Blythewood; his daughter, Karan Crout of Blythewood; grandchildren, Lunetta Day Jeffcoat, J. T. Crout and Bryson Crout; and great-granddaughter, Carmella Jeffcoat. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crout was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hood Crout; as well as daughters, Sandra Louise Day and Glenda Crout.

The funeral service for Mr. Crout was held 3 o’clock, Friday, Jan. 4 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens of Columbia.
