The 2013 Blythewood Bengal Boys Golf Team began their season with a tie for first place at the ninth annual Patriot Invitational, hosted by Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston at Wescott Plantation. The tie score of 301 was with Easley High School after the first round.

The 36-hole event was scheduled for Sunday and Monday but was shortened to 18 holes after a rain-out on Monday.

The Bengals were led by an All-Tournament team performance from junior Sam Moore, who shot a sparkling even-par 72. Freshmen Matt Moninghoff and Cole Hargett and seniors Bryce Howell and Ben Jansen rounded out the team. The Bengals will next play in Rock Hill, March 8-9.
