Soccer: Lady Bengals Sweep First Week of Play

The Blythewood girls’ soccer team swept through the first full week of March with three wins.

The Lady Bengals topped North August 2-0 March 4 behind Savannah Purvis, who scored both goals, and Katie Kuhn, who had the assists.

On March 6, Blythewood blasted the Lady Gamecocks of Sumter High School, 8-0. Kuhn booted in a pair of goals and had two assists, while Purvis also knocked in a pair and added one assist. Salina Maynard had two goals and 1 assist, Kiley King one goal and one assist, Claire Stephan one goal and Morgan Cordier one assist.

Last Friday, the Lady Bengals scorched Aiken, 10-0. Purvis led Blythewood with three goals, while Kuhn had two goals and one assist and Alex Baker had two goals. King had one goal and one assist, and Hannah Brandon and Ali Richards had one goal each. Kaylee Franklin, Abby Mayes and Yinka Lapado contributed with an assist each.

The Lady Bengals entered Tuesday match with a 5-1 record and ranked seventh in 4A girls’ soccer.
