Charitable Volleys –

The third annual three-day Rhett Davis Memorial Tennis Tournament at Cobblestone Park was a big success last weekend with 183 players and almost 300 participating in the silent auction on Friday evening. The late Davis, a firefighter, was an avid tennis player and the tournament raises funds to buy tennis equipment for Blythewood High School and for scholarships for BHS students. Shown above are Davis’s wife Aggie, center, and their children, from left, Jackson, 11; Blake, 14; Blake, 9 and Mary Braden Murphy, who was one of this year’s two $5,000 scholarship recipients. Murphy will attend Champlain University in Burlington, VT where she will study computer and digital forensics. The other scholarship winner, R. J. McDowell, is not shown. McDowell will attend Furman University where he will study music.
