Jacqueline Raines Cooper

BLYTHEWOOD – Mrs. Jacqueline R. “Jackie” Cooper, 72, of Blythewood, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013. Born April 18, 1941, in Blythewood, she was a daughter of Mary M. “Polly” Raines and the late Ernest E. Raines. A very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jackie enjoyed the fellowship of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the rest of her church family at Sandy Level Baptist Church, where she had been a life-long member. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her lake house on Lake Wateree.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 52 years, T. Edward Cooper; daughters, Tammie Brazell and husband, Kenny, Melissa Purvis and husband, Billy; brothers, Billy Raines, Jimmy Raines and wife, Lynette; sister, Mary Ellen Doble; grandchildren, Cameron Brazell and wife, Whitney, Caleb Brazell and fiance, Gwenell, Taylor and Hunter Purvis; as well as great grandchild, Emma Brazell.

The funeral service for Mrs. Cooper was held at 2 o’clock, Friday, Nov. 22, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Gantt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Members of the Gleaners Sunday School Class were invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Nov. 21, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr. Columbia.
