Thomas Franklin “Frank” Ballentine

BLYTHEWOOD – Thomas Franklin “Frank” Ballentine, 84, of Blythewood, died Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Blythewood, March 15, 1930, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Margaret Blanche Abell Ballentine. Frank graduated from Blythewood High School, Class of 1947, and went on to graduate from Clemson College in 1952. He was a member of the Clemson faculty for one year after graduation, and remained an avid Clemson fan for the rest of his life. Frank went on to work in the textile industry, was an inspired golfer, and enjoyed attending the Masters. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and was active in the Believers’ Fellowship Bible Study.

Frank is survived by a number of cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carroll E. and Gilbert W. Ballentine; and sister, Margaret Hilda Ballentine.

The funeral service for Mr. Ballentine will be held 2:00 o’clock, Wednesday, April 23, at Zion United Methodist Church, 1150 Zion Church Road, Blythewood, with the Rev. Debbie Miller and the Rev. Noble Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at church prior to the service, beginning at 1 o’clock. Pallbearers will be Ed Wilson, Mike Dickert, Mike Griffith, John Jaynes, Richard Abell, W.H. Abell and Clark Abell. Members of the Blythewood High School Class of 1947 are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers.
