Ridgeway resident Nelson Lacy was recently named the town’s 2014 Citizen of the Year. He is a Vietnam veteran, a retired health services worker, former General of the S.C. State Guard, former officer on the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Board and recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest service award. With these national and state arenas of service under his belt, Lacy brought his talents to Ridgeway in Fairfield County 12 years ago. Lacy’s service to Ridgeway includes volunteering on the town’s Recreation Committee and monitoring safety for the Pig on the Ridge Festival, Arts on the Ridge Event and holiday parades. He also chaired the 2013 Christmas Parade and secured funding for the Palmetto Pipe and Drum Corps to lead the parade.
