CHESTER – Richard Winn Academy’s varsity volleyball team improved their overall record to 8-1 with their most recent victory over Chester High School on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles traveled to Chester to defeat the Lady Cyclones in three straight games, 25-16, 25-9 and 25-9.

Prior to Tuesday’s victory, the Lady Eagles traveled to York Prep in Rock Hill on Monday to beat the Lady Patriots 3-1.

Richard Winn’s unblemished record was tarnished last Wednesday (Sept. 3) when they were defeated 3-1 by the Lady Patriots of Wardlaw Academy in Johnston. However, the Lady Eagles bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Laurens Academy at home on Sept. 4.

Coach Callie Sims has had to juggle her line-up a bit due to Emily Brigman’s ankle injury, sustained while playing against Wardlaw, and Megan Simpson’s hip injury during the match at York Pep on Monday.

On Monday, the Lady Eagles will host Chester in a rematch before taking road trips to Heathwood Hall in Columbia on Tuesday and Cambridge Academy in Greenwood on Thursday. Monday’s home meeting against Chester will start with a JV match at 4:30 p.m., and the varsity match will follow the conclusion of the JV match.
