WINNSBORO – The Lady Eagles improved their overall record to 9-1 with Monday’s home victory over Chester’s Lady Cyclones. This was the second meeting of these two teams in less than a week’s time, and once again Richard Winn prevailed in three straight games, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-7. At Chester last week the visiting Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Cyclones, 25-16, 25-9 and 25-9.

Back in the starting lineup was libero Megan Simpson after sitting out the previous week with a hip injury. Senior starter Emily Brigman is still on the disabled list, but is hopeful to return to action by the end of the week after nursing a sprained ankle from several weeks ago.

The Lady Eagles traveled to Heathwood Hall in Columbia Tuesday, upping their record to 10-1 with a 3-2 win over the Lady Highlanders, 19-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-12 and 15-10.

RWA travels to Greenwood on Thursday to face their second region opponent, Cambridge Academy. Results were not available at press time.

Next week will be an extremely busy one for the RWA volleyball program as both the JV and varsity teams have three home matches (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) and one away match on Tuesday in Laurens. Additionally, it is RWA’s Homecoming Spirit Week with the Homecoming football game against the Jefferson Davis Raiders on tap for Friday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
