WINNSBORO – The Lady Griffins of Fairfield Central (4-2, 1-1) had their three-game winning streak broken Saturday by the Lady Raiders of Keenan High School. Keenan started the game on a 14-4 run and never trailed in the contest as they dismantled the Lady Griffins, 55-32.

Fairfield struggled to put the ball in the hoop and only managed 4 first quarter points, which came off two buckets by Jameka Henderson. Henderson, who netted a game-high 20 points, was held scoreless in the second quarter as Fairfield faced a 34-9 deficit at halftime.

Keenan’s first-half surge was sparked by 16 of Demyra Rudder’s team-high 18 points. Fairfield was able to outscore Keenan 24-21 in the second half, but the damage had been done as the 25-point lead was too much for the Lady Griffins to overcome. With the victory, Keenan earned their first win of the season to improve to 1-5 overall in 1-0 in Region III-2A play.

Fairfield Central is in action Monday night against Lexington at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte N.C. On Dec. 26 the Lady Griffins will travel to Crestwood High School in Sumter to participate in the 18th annual District 9 Officials Christmas Tournament. First on the slate for Fairfield will be Lamar, followed by Lee Central and Blythewood on Dec. 27.
