WINNSBORO – The Lady Eagles (10-0, 1-0) kicked off region play Friday with a convincing 66-30 victory over the Lady Lions of Anderson Christian.
The post play and defensive full court pressure of the Lady Eagles harassed Anderson Christian in the first half. Richard Winn’s Jaycie Johnson led the charge with her dominating presence in the post, leading a defensive charge against which the Lady Lions struggled to push the ball up court the majority of the first half.

Early foul trouble and turnovers prevented the Lady Eagles from increasing their lead to a tremendous mark, but Anderson Christian could not capitalize on RWA’s early miscues, failing to generate points against the Lady Eagles’ full-court pressure.
Richard Winn began the second half with foul trouble and turnovers as their miscues prevented them from jumping out to an even bigger lead. Johnson and Jessie Stidham helped get the lady Eagles back on track with their dominance on both sides of the court as they put up points and led the defensive charge.

The Lady Eagles continued to use their height advantage in the post to increase their lead over Anderson Christian late in the second half as the Richard Winn pushed the game out of reach.

Johnson led the lady Eagles with 30 points as Stidham contributed with 10 points. Anderson Christian’s Eaden Shockley led the Lady Lions with 15 points. Richard Winn improved to 10-0 overall and 1-0 in region play.

The Lady Eagles will play host in the Booster Club Christmas Tournament at Richard Winn Academy on Dec. 29.
