Bobby Spencer Haygood

WINNSBORO – A service to celebrate the life of Bobby Spencer Haygood Sr. will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Aug. 20, at Stephen Greene Baptist Church in Winnsboro, S.C., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stephen Greene Memorial Gardens.

Born on Oct. 23, 1928 in Winnsboro, S.C., Mr. Haygood was the son of the late Robert Teems and Eva Marthers Haygood, and was the loving husband of Annette Cooper Haygood for nearly 65 years. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1946–1956 and later was co-owner/manager of Winn Auto Parts in Winnsboro. As a life-long active member of Stephen Greene Baptist Church, he served in many organizational and ministry-related capacities.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife; a son, Reverend Spencer Haygood and his wife, Allyson, of Marietta, Ga.; and a daughter, Terry A. Haygood, of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by a brother, Marvin Haygood, of Summerville, S.C.; and a sister, Evetter Bartlett, of Fayetteville, Ga. Surviving grandchildren are Daniel Foster, Amanda Garvey, Benjamin Haygood, Nate Haygood and Allysa Myles, along with six great-grandchildren. His first-born grandson, Joshua Haygood, preceded him in death.
