WINNSBORO – The Lady Eagles chose the wrong night to have a terrible shooting night as Thomas Sumter pulled out a 42-30 victory in Winnsboro Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles started the first quarter taking an 11-9 lead with Jaycie Johnson and Marion Walker Coleman each scoring 4 points to help lead the way. Thomas Sumter took advantage of the Lady Eagles shooting woes as the Lady Generals won the remaining three quarters led by Bree Stoddard who led all scorers with 24 points.

Richard Winn’s shooting slump netted them only 6 points in the second quarter as the Lady Generals made sure to keep Richard Winn out of the game. Thomas Sumter outscored the Lady Eagles 33-19 after the first quarter leading to their victory.

In addition to Stoddard, the Lady Generals were led also by Latrice Lyons with 12 points. The Lady Eagles were led by Coleman with 8 points and Johnson with 7.

Generals Roll Over Boys’ Squad

WINNSBORO – The Generals used a big second and third quarter Tuesday night to earn a victory over the Richard Winn Academy boys, 60-47.

The Eagles opened the game with tempo, trying to use their height advantage against the smaller Generals and managed to end the first quarter tied at 10.

Ryan Dixon increased the pace for Thomas Sumter, leading to quick baskets on RWA turnovers. This tempo led to the Eagles being outscored 41-21 by the Generals as Richard Winn never recovered from the scoring output.

The Generals run led to them having three players in double figures as this sealed the Eagles’ fate. Despite the Eagles going on a late run and outscoring the Generals 16-9 in the final frame, they could not regain control of the game.

Thomas Sumter was led by Dixon with 14. Justin Lyons and Austin Hudson each scored 13 for the Generals. Richard Winn was led by John Coleman, Mitchell Gibbons and Bryant Carvalho with 12 points each.
