Floyd Ray McKenzie

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY. – Floyd Ray McKenzie, 90, of Highland Heights, Ky. and former resident of Winnsboro, S.C., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Baptist Care Center in Newport, Ky. Ray moved from his hometown of Soperton, Ga. at age 21 and worked for Uniroyal in Winnsboro for 44 years. After retirement, Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and beekeeping. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Winnsboro First Church of the Nazarene where he was affectionately known as “Brother Ray” and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 45 years. His greatest passion in life was for the Lord, and he lived to share his faith with others. Ray was a loved and loving brother-in-law and son-in-law to the Plyler family of Winnsboro.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at Winnsboro First Church of the Nazarene conducted by the Rev. Harry Varn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 15 years, Melba Vickers McKenzie of Highland Heights, Ky.; daughter, Ginny (Ben) Driggers of Winnsboro, S.C.; son, Vollie McKenzie of Asheville, N.C.; sister, Jewell Gillis of Glenwood, Ga.; brother, Condle McKenzie of Hartwell, Ga.; granddaughters, Heather and Hayley; two great-grandchildren and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Mildred Plyler McKenzie (1999); brothers, Don, Felton and J.E. McKenzie; and sister, Dean Morris.
