Bobby Richard Smith

WINNSBORO – Bobby Richard Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. He was 79 years old. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Robert Samuel and Aileen Smith.

Bobby was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved his family dearly. He was retired from SCE&G where he worked for 38 years. He was past Master of the Pacific Lodge #325 of the Free Masons, District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Winnsboro Lodge #11 and a lifetime member of the Winnsboro Lodge. He was also a Shriner at Jamil Temple. He was a past member of South Beltline Baptist Church in Columbia where he was a Deacon. He was a current member of Stephen Greene Baptist Church in Winnsboro where he served over the years as part of the Diaconate.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at Stephen Greene Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, Aug. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years, Willodene “Deane” Hackle Smith; his son, Joel “Joey” (Liz) Smith of Camden; daughter Jennifer “Dee Dee” (Les) Wilkes of Winnsboro, and daughter-in-law Crystal Berry Smith of Winnsboro. He is also survived by grandsons Jason (Blair) Wilkes, Christopher (Leanna) Smith, Adam Smith; granddaughters Courtland Smith, Aisa Trevino, Amanda Trevino and adopted grandchildren Daniel Garifalon and Jordan Garifalon. Also, he is survived by his brother Barney (Diane) Smith of Winnsboro, sister Peggy (Jim) Barnum of Beebe, Ark., and sister-in-law Jean Smith of Blythewood. In addition he had many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby is predeceased by his beloved son Steve, and his dear brother Bill Smith.
