WINNSBORO (Dec. 7, 2016) – The Dutch Fork Silver Foxes handed Fairfield a tough 69-36 loss Tuesday night, and the Griffin guys have still not entered the win column thus far this season.

“Dutch Fork is a tough team,” Griffins head coach Brian Sanders said. “I think they’re ranked like number two or number three in the state in 4A. They’re a great team, they’re well coached. Right now we’ve got a lot things we need to work on.”

Dutch Fork opened the contest with a 12-0 run that spanned just around four and a half minutes, and by the end of the quarter they had buried the Griffins in a 17-6 hole, a hole that continued to grow throughout the game.

A brief swing in momentum in the second quarter led to the Griffins climbing within 4 points of the lead, but the momentum was short lived. The Silver Foxes extended their lead to 12 by halftime.

The second half opened, like the first, with a Dutch Fork run. They came out of the locker room gunning, and quickly broke off an 8-point run.

Later in the third, the Dutch Fork lead swelled to as much as 24 points, and by the fourth they found themselves ahead by up to 34 points. Justin Thompson, a Dutch Fork Senior, was on the receiving end of a beautiful fourth quarter alley-oop pass that energized the stands.

Griffin senior Chandon Davis led the team in scoring with 15 points, but was the only Griffin in double digits on the night.

Jordan Davis, a senior Silver Fox and Dayton commit, led his team with 16. Justin Thompson and Justen Chatman crossed the double-digit threshold for Dutch Fork.

“We know what we need to work on,” Sanders said. “We’re very young and only have two seniors right now. We’re working with a lot of freshman. I’ve got an eighth-grader, a junior and a couple of sophomores. These guys have been working very hard, this is my first year here, and it’s a change for them.”
