Funeral services for Richard Boyd Murphy, 83, of Winnsboro will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Stephen Greene Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Dr. Mickey Cockrell with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Murphy died on Monday, April 3, 2017. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of Dallas Gray and Leona Towery Murphy. He was a member of Stephen Greene Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maudeen Thomas Murphy; daughter, Diane Murphy Arnette (Sam); two grandchildren, Sara Arnette Rich (Todd) and Sam B. Arnette, Jr. (Katie); and four great grandchildren, Anna Bennett and Rebecca Wallis Rich, Samuel B. Arnette, III, and Thomas Murphy Arnette.
In addition to his parents, Boyd is predeceased by his brother, Dallas Gray Murphy, Jr., and sisters, Doris M. Thomas, Hariett M. Jeffcoat, and Shirley M. Francis.
