Philip Charles Wilkins, Jr., 34, Ashley Mason Wilkins and their children Caleb Matthew, 4, and Abigail Rose, 17 months

WINNSBORO – Funeral services for Philip Charles Wilkins, Jr., 34, were held at 4 pm Sunday, April 23, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209 with burial in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery, Winnsboro. The family received friends from 11 am to 2 pm Sunday at Richard Winn Academy.

Philip passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 after a sudden and, as yet, undiagnosed illness. Born in Lexington, he was the son of Philip Charles Wilkins, Sr. and Donna Smith Wilkins.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Ashley Mason Wilkins; three children, Caleb Matthew, 4, Abigail Rose, 17 months, and Baby Wilkins due on May 31, 2017; two sisters, Caroline Wilkins Chisholm (Andrew) and Grace Tillman Wilkins.

Philip graduated from Richard Winn Academy in 2000. He then went on to receive a degree in Economics from the College of Charleston in 2004 followed by a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007.
During this time, he also pitched for the College of Charleston baseball team before playing for the Detroit Tigers for a stint in the minor leagues.

Philip lived in Haymarket, Virginia with his wife and children where he worked as a mechanical engineer for almost ten years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he served as a lector. He is fondly remembered as a good, true and powerful witness to our Lord while also being a loving husband and great dad. He was the husband every woman would want, the father every child should have, the son every parent dreams for, the brother every sister needs, and the friend you are lucky to find.

He loved us, his family, deeply and truly. He showered us with his kindness, tenderness and desire to be with us. He was full of mischief and a great tease; jokes and laughter were always part of our lives with Philip. He was a delight.
Philip had a deep love for God, his Father, and Jesus Christ, his Savior. He lived what he believed and unashamedly shared God’s word. There is no doubt that he is enjoying his reward in Heaven and delighting in long talks with Our Lord.
