Fairfield Historical Society rewards work

Anne Kleine receives a preservation award for her family’s restoration work.

WINNSBORO – The Fairfield County Historical Society presented several awards during its 2017 annual membership meeting on April 9 at Christ Central Community Center next door to the Fairfield County Museum with a reception held after the meeting in the dining room of the museum. Volunteer of the Year award went to Pam and Donnie Laird. Two William Banks Patrick Preservation 2017 Awards were presented for work in the Fairfield community.

Larry and Anne Kleine of Blythewood received the preservation award for recently purchasing and restoring the Winnsboro blue granite Tudor Revival cottage at 211 N. Congress Street in downtown Winnsboro. The Kleines plan to move into the home when the restoration is complete. Also receiving the preservation award were to Mayor

Charlene Herring, Town Councilwoman Angela Harrison, Henry Dixon and Jon Ward of the Town of Ridgeway for their efforts to save the ‘Tin Man’ water tower from demolition when the Town recently decided it needed a more serviceable tower.
