Half Way Through

It’s hard to believe it, but six months of 2017 have come and gone. When the year began, what individual spiritual goals did you set for yourself? What is it you set your mind to accomplish for the Lord? Did you promise God you would attend worship services more regularly? Did you promise the Lord you would invite that family member or special friend to worship God with you? Did you give your word that you would be more faithfully involved in the projects and programs of the church? Did you vow to pray more, study your Bible more, or share with others what the Lord has done for you?

Now that we are half-way through the year, it is a perfect opportunity to evaluate the spiritual progress you have made. For some, it may be you have kept your promises to the Lord and you have matured in your faith. If this is the case, then you are to be applauded for your progress as well as encouraged to keep up the good work. If, however, you have allowed your promises to fall by the wayside, you need to know you have not failed. Instead, you simply need to reevaluate your promises and seek to keep them.

The beautiful part of having a relationship with God is that we are all given multiple chances to get things right. A failure on our part that is experienced today can be turned into a success tomorrow! God continually allows all of us to learn from our shortcomings and subsequently turn them into strengths.

Where are you right now in your walk with the Lord? Keep in mind if the first half of the year has not proven to be fruitful spiritually, there is time to reevaluate where you are, repent of your shortcomings, and return to your promises!
