WHS taps Connor for Head Baseball Coach

Connor

BLYTHEWOOD- Westwood High School has named Vincent Connor as the new head baseball coach, after former head coach Jonathan Burroughs stepped down in May to pursue other family and educational endeavors. Connor served as a Varsity Assistant coach, and the Junior Varsity Head Coach for Bamberg-Earhardt last season, and served a similar role at schools across the low country for the last ten years.

Connor will inherit a Westwood team coming off of their best season in school history. They finished third in a competitive Region III 4A and clinched their first ever playoff birth, and the Redhawks will retain All-Region players Matthew Oxendine and Elijah Heatley.

“Vince comes to us and has paid his dues as an assistant over the last 8-10 years and has a real high passion for the game of baseball,” Westwood Athletic Director Jason Powell said. “We only lost three seniors last year and the main core of the group is coming back, along with some young talent as well, and we feel like we can compete for the Region Championship next year.”
