Sports Brief: RWA at Wardlaw

JOHNSTON – The Richard Winn Eagles opened their 2017-18 season in Johnston where they did battle with the Wardlaw Patriots. But it is a trip the Eagles will want to forget. Propelled by six rushing touchdowns and 347 yards on the ground, Wardlaw ran up and down the field on their way to an easy 54-13 victory.

The Patriots went four for five passing with 111 yards and one touchdown. Last season began in almost the exact same way with the Eagles traveling to Johnston to begin the 2016 season, and came home with a 44-13 loss.

Richard Winn will seek redemption tonight at home when Coastal Christian Prep rolls into town. Coastal Christian currently sports a 1-1 record with a 42-14 routing of King Academy, and a 60-44 loss in an offensive showdown against St.John’s Christian Academy.
