Bengal and Redhawks X-country compete in Mid-State Qualifiers

COLUMBIA – Cross Country teams from all over the state of South Carolina joined forces at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia this weekend for the Mid-State Qualifiers. The Blythewood boys and Westwood girls and boys teams all clinched top ten finishes. The Bengal ladies came in at 13.

Blythewood’s Alan Deogracins earned the number-one spot amongst all Region 5A boys, with a time of 16:14.45. His charge led the Bengals to a seventh place finish, ahead of Dutch Fork, Nation Ford and Rock Hill.

Morgan Simmonds had a team-best time of 20:30.39 for the Lady Bengals and earned herself a twelfth-place finish.

The Westwood ladies fared a bit better with their sixth place overall finish in the Region 4A qualifiers. Alanie Foster’s time of 21:33.51 was good enough for a thirteenth-place finish.

The Redhawks boys, like Blythewood, ended the day at the number seven position. Paul McCants finished in the top-10 at number nine and clocked a time of 17:33.92.
