BLYTHEWOOD – Matthew Owens, son of David and Rachel Perkins, announced his intentions to continue his lacrosse career at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Owens, a midfielder for Blythewood, has been a varsity captain for the past four years and is a three time All-Region selection.  He will look to help the Bengals build off of their best season in school history a year ago, a loss in the 2017 Upperstate Championship Game.

Gabby Waden, daughter of Samuel Waden II, Antoinette Waden, and Davett Waden, announced her intention to continue her volleyball career at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. Waden was a four-year varsity starter for head coach Mary Hall at Blythewood. She finished her career with over 1,000 kills and was named the Region Most Valuable Player in each of the last three years. In addition to earning All-Region honors for three-straight years, Waden was named to the All-State team in each of the last three seasons. Waden was selected as the Gatorade Player of the Year for South Carolina and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star game.
