Lady Eagles win at Wardlaw

JOHNSTON – Richard Winn girls’ basketball devastated the Wardlaw Academy Patriots, 55-28, on Tuesday. Richard Winn’s big win came on the heels of their 24-point loss to Thomas Sumter in their last outing and bumped their record up to 2-1.

Lydia Wilder got things going early for the Eagles and ripped the Patriots’ defense for 12 of Richard Winn’s 18 first quarter points. She led the team in scoring. Her 19 points almost bested Wardlaw’s final score.

Gracie Atkerson found her sweet spot in the second quarter. She drilled three shots from long range for nine of her 12 points. Meredith Pope led the scoring effort in the fourth quarter, and she tallied four of her seven points in the final period.

Richard Winn’s next game is at home against Cambridge Academy on Friday.
