Lady Bengals fall to White Knoll

LEXINGTON – The rough season continued for the Blythewood Lady Bengals Tuesday against the White Knoll Timberwolves in their final road game of the year. Blythewood played the Timberwolves close most of the game, and lead for a good portion, but in the end White Knoll eased by with a 40-37 win.

Blythewood only trailed by a bucket at the end of first period, and the Bengal offense roared to life in the second.

Alexis Mims had six in the second, and Faith Nichols chipped in four of her own. Their defense contained the Timberwolves to three buckets, and at halftime Blythewood was up 20-16.

The Bengals only put up nine points in the third, but their defense only gave up five. Blythewood had an eight point lead after three, but in the fourth their defense collapsed.

Jalisa Squirewell led the charge for the Timberwolves in the fourth period. She had eight points in the final quarter of play. Janiyah Cowan, Makenna Campbell and Khrya Strawder had four apiece.

White Knoll put the brakes on any offensive momentum the Bengals in the fourth. Blythewood only scored eight points, and had no counter for the Timberwolves’ offensive explosion.

The Bengals round out the season Friday at home against Spring Valley.
