Redhawk and Bengal ballers named to All-Midlands Team

COLUMBIA – The State recently released their choices for their 2017-18 All-Midlands basketball teams, and both the Blythewood Bengals and Westwood Redhawks were well-represented. Westwood’s Russell Jones Jr. and Unique Drake earned first team honors. Drake average 21.5 points per contest and Jones finished the season at nearly 17 points a game.

Robert Braswell earned a first team selection for the Bengals.  Braswell average 15 per and was a monster on the boards with eight rebounds a game. He also average two assists and two steals.

Blythewood’s Tre Jackson was selected to the Second Team, and his teammate Jonathan Breeland received a Third Team nod. Jackson tallied an impressive average of 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and 3.3 steals. Breeland was no slouch himself, putting up 15.8 points, six rebounds and 4.2 assists a game.

Westwood’s Ta’jay Dunlap, Mya Belton and Nyah Leveretter were given honorable mentions. Fairfield Central’s senior Captain Tameshia Woodard also earned an honorable mention.
