Wrestlers shine at Individuals

COLUMBIA – The Blythewood Bengals finished at the 22-spot out of the 36 teams in the 5A State Wrestling Individuals, and Westwood also returned home with a 22nd, but Blythewood’s Brandon Tucker and Westwood’s Brice Harkness stood out. Tucker, after a win over Gaffney’s Dashun Tate, pulled down a third place finish in the 285-pound division.

Harkness clinched win number 105 on his career and finished fifth in the 160-pound division. He was also chosen for his first North/South All-Star competition, and on day one he pinned the 2A State Champion James Gainyard of Bamberg-Ehrhardt. He was defeated on day two by three time 5A State Qualifier, Brennan Michael of North Myrtle Beach
