WEST COLUMBIA – Continuing their quest for a State title, the O-Zone All Stars knocked off Midland last week to claim the title of District 4 Champion, the third in a row for many of the team’s players.

In a best of 3 series against Midland, the Blythewood O-Zone All Stars only needed two games to clinch the title of District 4 Champion. The win marks back-to-back District 4 Championships for Blythewood’s O-Zone team.

Blythewood jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning of game one and finished with a 7-5 win. The O-Zones were led at the plate by Alex Myers, who was 3-3 with a solo homerun.

Tied 1-1 with Midland after two and a third innings, a rain delay stretched the game two into a two-day battle. The O-Zone’s team pitching efforts, timely hitting and a few clutch double plays proved too much for the Midland team. The O-Zones went home with a 4-2 win and some new hardware for the shelf.

Blythewood moves on to the State Tournament in Union on July 7, where they will face Monks Corner at 10 a.m.
