BLYTHEWOOD – Fritz David Jolly “PawPaw”, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and life-long resident of Blythewood, SC, died unexpectedly on July 22, 2018 at the age of 73.

Fritz was born in Columbia, SC on February 23, 1945. He was a Marine who was in service during 1963 – 1967 and served in Vietnam for 13 months. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in September 2001 as a Lieutenant after 27 years.
Fritz was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church. He was actively involved in the Palmetto Marines Detachment 829, Toys for Tots and Sons of Confederacy (SCV). He was also a member of the Blythewood Historical Society, and Blythewood Masonic Lodge, Post #395. He and his wife would travel to be a part of the 9th Marines reunions and Vietnam Marines reunions.

Fritz is survived by his lovely wife of 53 years, Frances Raines Jolly; his children, David Jolly, Chris (Dawn) Jolly, Curtis (Mickey) Jolly and Jason (Jennifer) Jolly; his grandchildren, Christopher “Bryan”, Courtney, James “Warren” and Gable; his sister, Degina Kasper. He would always say “if he knew how fun grandchildren would be, he would’ve had them first”. He is predeceased by his parents, Glenda Idell Jolly and Robert Franklin Jolly; his angel grandchildren, Austin and Elijah.

The funeral service for Mr. Jolly was held 1 o’clock, Thursday, July 26th, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, with the Rev. Dr. E. Benjamin Newman, Jr, and the Rev. Dan Cantey officiating. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
