Blythewood swim goes 2 for 3 in first meet

LEXINGTON – Last week the Blythewood Bengals made their way to Lexington for their first meet of the season against River Bluff, Airport and Brookland-Cayce. Both the girls and the boys fell to River Bluff, but rebounded for wins again Airport and BC.

The girls fell to River Bluff 115-55, but took on BC next and answered back with a 111-45 follow-up. Finally, they handed Airport a lopsided 126-24 swim-down. Chloe Humphrey placed second in the 400M freestyle, Courtney Cattaneo took home second in the 100M freestyle, Maya Moran got second in 100M backstroke and Abby Kaczynski also came in second place in the 100M breaststroke.

The boys fell to River Bluff in a 117-55 affair, but also thumped BC, 111-45. They finished with their strongest performance of the night against Airport, 126-13.

Logan Platt took home first in the 100M freestyle and backstroke. Josh Axtell earned second place in both the 200M freestyle and the 50M freestyle. Daniel Brown finished second in the 100M butterfly and the 400M freestyle. The 400M freestyle relay, made up of Platt, Brayden Russell, Brown and Axtell, missed a first place finish by a hair.

The Bengals will host Spring Valley for a meet on Sept. 5.
