Lady Bengals dominate Sumter

BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood tennis got the ball rolling for Bengal athletics after Hurricane Florence sent the sports schedule into a frenzy, and they did not look like they had missed a beat. The Lady Bengals hosted the Sumter Fighting Gamecocks on Tuesday and sent them back with the Sumter with a 6-0 loss.

Erica Zippel started the night with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sumter’s Whitney Crawford, then Sophie Cartlon followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Jordan Shuping. Blythewood’s Emma Horan and Rachel Truitt only surrendered a combined point in the straight-set victories.

Courtney Lee finished off Sumter’s Carmen Carrigan 6-0, 6-2 in the last singles matchup of the contest. Wyatt Britt and Ellie Bolio swept up the pieces and came out unscathed in the 6-0, 6-0 doubles victory.
