COLUMBIA – The Redhawks had dropped their first two region contests headed into Friday night’s matchup with Ridge View and sat with a 4-2 record.

Westwood committed four turnovers on the night, which stunted their offensive momentum. Ridge View capitalized and parlayed the rough offensive performance into a 28-7 win. The win was Ridge View’s third straight over the Redhawks, all of which have been by double digit.

Javon Anderson, the Blazers’ senior quarterback, put the first crooked figure on the score board after his pass to Cincere Scott went for a 30-yard touchdown. That was the sole score of the first quarter, but the Blazers added to their lead in the second.

Wayln Napper put the finishing touches on a long Ridge View drive with a one-yard touchdown. Napper had a big night and impacted every facet of the Blazers’ offense. Napper had a rushing touchdown, a passing touchdown and receiving touchdown. He had 61 yards passing, 34 rushing yard and another 84 yards in receiving.

Napper’s rushing touchdown expanded the Blazers’ lead to 14 before the halftime break. Westwood found their first beacon of hope in the third quarter. The Redhawks first score came in the form of a 12-yard touchdown pass from Ahmon Green to Cortes Braham.

Both defenses controlled the contest for the rest of third quarter, but Napper and the Blazer offense put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. Napper had a 37-yard touchdown reception from Javon Anderson just one minute into the fourth quarter.

The final nail for the Redhawks came late in the fourth. Napper showed of his off arm, and found Cincere Scott for a 61-yard touchdown.

Westwood has their final road region game Friday night against the Lancaster Bruins.
