Lady Bengals fall in semifinals

SPARTANBURG – The Blythewood girls’ tennis squad made an impressive run to the semi-finals of the 5A state playoffs that was highlighted by victories over Riverside, Mauldin and J.L.Mann, but on Monday night Spartanburg ended the run. The Lady Bengals fought to the end but Spartanburg edged them out 4-3.

Maggie Cubitt took the first match for the Lady Vikings, but Hannah Myers got one back for the Bengals in the next match. Carlee Mason and Dawaysia Crocker took down the next two matches for Spartanburg, but Emma Horan took the final singles match for the Bengals.

Maggie Cubitt and Elizabeth Yex got the win in the first doubles match-up and sealed the deal for the Lady Vikings. Kinsey Todd and Rachel Truitt won the final doubles match for Blythewood.
