Griffins fall to Southside

GREENVILLE – The Griffins were one year removed from a winless season when they made this year’s 3A state playoffs, and turned even more heads when they knocked off the number-one seeded Pendleton Bulldogs. However, the Griffins ran into a buzz saw in the second round in the form of the Southside Tigers, the two-time defending state champions. The Griffins lost handily to the high-powered Tigers 65-45.

Southside’s dynamic senior duo of Tobias Canada and RJ Campbell gave the Griffins’ defense fits. Canada had 24 points and Campbell recorded a double-double. He had 15 points and 14 boards.
