The win sealed up second place in Region 4-3 A for the Griffins. Senior La’keyn Boyd accounted for 10 points in her final regular season appearance at home, and Cristin Gray had a game-high 12 points.

Chester did not break their scoreless streak until Laterriya Tobias nailed a pair of free throws at the 4:30 mark. Gray had six points and a block in the first quarter, and after one the Griffins were up 18-8.

Fairfield’s defense constricted around Chester in the second, and the Cyclones offense looked lost. Gray added another block to her stat sheet in the second quarter, and the Griffins’ only gave up two points in the period. Jamaria Sampson scored five for the Griffins in the second.
La’Keyn Boyd came out with the hot hand in the third. She scored six of the Griffins’ first eight points in the quarter, and all of her 10 points came in the second half. Only one Cyclone scored more than one basket in the second half. Tyjala Lightner had a pair of threes in the second half, and led Chester in scoring with eight points.

The Griffins wrap up regular season play Thursday at Indian Land.
