Bengals fall to Mauldin, defeat Irmo

BLYTHEWOOD – The Bengals suffered a tough loss in at home against Mauldin on Saturday. Blythewood only allowed four earned runs, but the Mavericks controlled the game handily. The Bengals were tied at 1 after the first inning, but never led in the game. Mauldin cruised to the 10-3 final.

Nate Hinson, Landon Lucas and Jansen Stokes all knocked in RBIs. Stokes had a home run. Hinson and Michael Gregory knocked in doubles. Hinson got the starting nod on the mound and faced nine batters in an inning and a third worth of work. Tripp Reeves, Alex Canino, Jake Ladd and Michael Gregory all clocked in on the mound.

Blythewood had a much better go of things in their Monday night matchup against Irmo. The Bengals seized control after the first inning ended with a 1-1 tie, and they were up 13-1 after four. Landon Lucas started for Blythewood and got the win. He faced 15 batters in four innings, only gave up one hit and struck out three.

Josh Cowan, Harrison Lambert, John Lanier and Lucas all homered in runs for the Bengals. Cowan, Zach Bailes, Colin Jones and Brady Beasley each had a double. Lucas, Cowan and Lambert had three RBIS apiece. Lanier had a pair of RBIS. Jones and Gregory drove in a run each.

The Bengals traveled to Irmo Wednesday for the second game of the week. Scores were not available at press time. The three-game series with Irmo concludes at Blythewood on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
