WINNSBORO – The Fairfield Central Griffins were involved a region double-header on Tuesday night. The Griffins dominated region 4-3A foe Keenan to the tune of 17-2 in game one and 17-0 in game two.

The Griffins took a 5-2 lead in game one after the first inning. Keenan couldn’t contain the Fairfield Central bats in the bottom of the second, allowing the Griffins 10 runs. The Griffins added two more in the bottom of the third to mercy rule the Raiders after only three innings of play.

Jacob McManus led the offensive efforts going 2-3 with four RBIs. CJ Simmons went 1-3 at the plate, including a homerun and 2 RBIs. Jalen Jackson went 2-2, and Montaviaus Thompson and Keion Trapp each notched a hit.

Sha’Kien Holmes picked up the win, pitching all three innings. Holmes faced 13 batters, striking out five and allowing only two hits and two runs.

Game two told a similar story as big Griffin bats ended the first inning with 15 runs. They tacked on another two in the second and held Keenan scoreless to end the game after the top of the third.

Trapp went 3-3 with 4 RBIs, followed by McManus with two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Chazi Jones dropped a bomb over the outfield wall. Dylan Kurtz and Jackson each picked up a hit.

Jackson got the win, facing nine batters, striking out six and allowing no runs in the three-inning contest.

Stolen bases were the hot item, and the Griffins ended the double-header with a total of 34. McManus and Trapp snagged 5. Jackson, Bagley, Thompson and Holmes finished with four, followed by Jones with three and one for Simmons and Kurtz.

The Griffins traveled to Great Falls on Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time. They host Chester on Friday at 6.
