Demons squeak past Bengals

SOFTBALL – Blythewood found themselves at the wrong end of a 15-14 battle with Lugoff-Elgin last Thursday.

The Bengals went toe-to-toe with the Demons through three and took a 10-8 lead in the bottom of the fourth. They added four in the sixth, but Lugoff-Elgin’s four-run seventh inning gave them the advantage as the Bengals couldn’t plate a run in the final frame.

Kendall Parker picked up the loss on the mound, facing 42 batters in seven innings.

Emily Babbit and Lauren Hardy both knocked homers, picking up three and four RBIs respectively. Parker also had a big night at the plate, going 4-5 with a double. Haley McCoy added two doubles and two RBIs.

Blythewood’s game with Spring Valley was moved to Thursday because of field conditions. Games will be played at 5:30 and 7:15.
