Redhawks softball struggles with Lancaster

SOFTBALL – Westwood faced an uphill battle in with a tough Lancaster team last Friday. Lancaster took an early lead and never relinquished, taking home the 10-2 win.

Marlena Perez pitched a complete game for the Redhawks, facing 28 batters. Perez seated seven, walked four, and allowed nine hits and 10 runs.

Deneathia Dixon and Jada McConnell both tallied doubles. Dixon, Emily Hedrick, Erin Wilson, Olivia Burroughs and Jade Brown each singled, but only Burroughs and Wilson managed to bat in runs.

The loss dropped the Redhawks’ record to 4-9. Tuesday’s game at South Pointe was rescheduled for Wednesday. South Pointe stunned the Redhawks to the tune  of a 15-3 win.
