Eleanor L. Kneen

BLYTHEWOOD – Eleanor L. Kneen, 98, of Blythewood, died peacefully Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the home of her daughter in SC, with her daughter, Carol, and her granddaughter, Kelly, by her side.  Eleanor was born January 4, 1921 in Cherokee, Iowa, to parents Fredric and Anna Julius.

She married Chet Kneen June 3, 1940.  During WWII she owned and operated her on beauty shop in Cherokee.  After Chet’s discharge in 1945, they moved to Crane Lake, MN where together they owned and operated Crane Lake Bait and Tackle.

After leaving Crane Lake in 1962, they resided in Linden Grove and Lake Vermilion.  After her death of her husband in 1988, Eleanor moved to Virginia until 1994, when she moved to SC to actively help her daughter, Carol, in several business ventures, the last of which being Laura’s Tea Room in Ridgeway, SC.  Eleanor stayed very involved and active until her fall in April of 2019.

Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by siblings Mildred and Donald, as well as her granddaughter Jill Lammi, and son-in-law Tony Lammi.

Survivors are her three children, Sherri Lammi of MN, Mark Kneen (Cindy) of ID, and Carol Allen (Kelly) of SC; as well as five grandchildren, Jeff Lammi, Brian Kneen (Erika), Kelly Quinn (Craig), Julie Midthun (Jon), and Corey Allen (Shawyn); and ten great grandchildren, Casey Allen, Hunter and Taylor Midthun, Malori and Ryan Lammi, Seamus Quinn, Wyatt and Lane Kneen, and Rachel and Jesse Allen.

A memorial gathering was held at the home of Carol and Kelly Allen in SC, and a graveside gathering for family will be held in Orr, MN where she will be interred with her husband.
