Christmas parade set for Dec. 8

BLYTHEWOOD – The town’s annual Christmas parade is set for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m., rain, snow or shine. The parade is again being organized by members of the Blythewood Knights of Columbus.

Entries for parade participants must be submitted by Nov. 30. The entry fee is $30 except for first responders, high school organizations, elected officials and the Grand Marshal, all of whom pay no entry fee.

Parade rules prohibit throwing candy and other items from floats, truck and cars. Candy may be handed out to spectators by walkers alongside the entries. According to parade officials, those parade participants who throw items from parade vehicles will not be allowed to participate in the next year’s parade.

Parade organizers are seeking sponsors for four levels of sponsorship: Gold – $250, Silver – $175; Bronze – $100 and Copper – $50.

All entry and sponsor fees are donated to charity organizations within the community, yet to be determined.
